A Mission for Home animal rescue program continues to save lives

8 dogs

For nearly two decades, the pro-humane Mission Viejo Animal Services Center and Dedicated Animal Welfare Group (DAWG) have been giving unwanted dogs and cats a new lease on life through a special rescue program.

The program "A Mission for Home" involves handpicking pets from overcrowded shelters and bringing them here to make them available for adoption locally.  Funded exclusively through the nonprofit DAWG, this program is a win-win for the animals and shelters alike. It helps other shelters reduce their numbers; the animals get a chance to find great homes; and local families have more animals to choose from when they're ready to adopt a furry family member.  Since the program's inception in 2000, the Mission Viejo Animal Services Center has rescued more than 1,200 animals.

Last week, 11 dogs arrived at our center from overcrowded facilities. These sweet, loving dogs are all ready for their forever homes, so stop by 28095 Hillcrest to meet them today.

I just saw a post this evening (May 5 at 9:55 pm) that the San Bernadino Animal Shelter might be closing their doors on May 7 and euthanizing all the pets at the shelter. Is there a way the DAWG program can do something to help save some of these precious animals? Thank you so much for your time and help.
