Street improvement projects nearly complete

street improvements

Work is nearly complete on summer street improvement projects designed to extend the life of City streets and aesthetically enhance the community.

In June, Public Works kicked off the Los Alisos Boulevard and Santa Margarita Parkway intersection improvements and pavement rehabilitation of Felipe Road (Marguerite to La Paz) and Olympiad Road (Jeronimo to Alicia), with the goal of having most of the work finished before school resumes.

The Measure M2 grant-funded intersection project provided dual left-turn lanes for northbound Los Alisos, designated right-turn lanes for both directions of Santa Margarita and median landscaping enhancements on Los Alisos between Mustang Run and Santa Margarita.  The pavement rehabilitation project provided just under 4 miles of new roadway surface on Felipe and Olympiad.

Although my issue doesn't apply to the streets listed (Felipe and Olympiad), I couldn't find any reference to the project for the residential streets. I live on Mistyridge and this week they began preparations to repave our street. What concerns me is, even though they applied sealant to the cracks, there are many where the sealant was so quickly applied or there was insufficient sealant and the cracks still remain. I have taken pictures if anyone is interested.

It is not uncommon for the crack seal material to settle in the cracks such that the contractor must revisit and make a second application in certain areas. The City will be sure to have the contractor revisit Mistyridge to address any cracks in need of additional sealant.
