Parts of Mission Viejo subject to potential Public Safety Shutoff

Turning off the power in the name of fire preparedness is unacceptable and is creating public safety risks.

It creates a hardship for those who are dependent on power for medical needs, and it impacts businesses and the local economy.

The public is being punished because the utility companies have not modernized its infrastructure.

Everyone should do their jobs with honor and be able to make a difference.

Against suggested power outages. Edison needs to maintain their equipment not inflict inconvenience on customers.

Not only is it unsafe to turn off power for customers, i.e. lights needed at night for safety of homes and theft protection, but it is an insult to the people who pay their electric bills when Edison asks for payment increases. Especially annoying are the insulting electric commercials telling us to "turn off our power from 4 to 9 pm -power out time and to go out from our homes". Seems like they have plenty of money but they are spending it on commercials instead of new equipment.

Turning off power deliberately is unacceptable especially when rates are going up for usage and the electric company is wasting money running commercials telling people to "power down from 4pm-9pm". We have already had monetary losses from lost food due to previous unplanned outages and we do not wish any more expenses from planned outages. There must be some legal liability here for the electric company to consider when making this decision.

The power companies and their enablers have chosen a dangerous way to try to escape their obligations. Just listen to the stories from other areas where they have shifted their responsibilities to the backs of residents. Surely enough people knew years ago that the power companies were a big cause of fires. Fire fighters knew. Government officials knew. Why has it taken so long to begin, unsuccessfully, to hold power companies accountable for their role?
