Annual program will award seven $4K scholarships

The Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) is accepting applications for its 2017 scholarship program, designed to offer students local government and planning experience they can use to develop long-term career goals.

The scholarship will provide a $4,000 scholarship award for seven high school or community college students as well as a two-week internship with a local planning agency, council of governments or SCAG.

Recipients will also have the chance to meet with their local government representatives and planners to discuss the importance of urban planning and future careers in public service.

The scholarship application is due by Friday, April 21. Application forms are available at http://www.scag.ca.gov/scholarship or by contacting Houston Laney at 213-236-1906 or laney@scag.ca.gov.
