Take advantage of low-cost pet vaccination clinic on March 10 (weather permitting)

dog getting vaccinated

The Mission Viejo Animal Services Center on Tuesday, March 10 will host its next low-cost pet vaccination clinic for Mission Viejo, Laguna Niguel, Aliso Viejo, Rancho Santa Margarita and Laguna Hills residents.  The clinic is from 5:30 -7:30 pm at 28095 Hillcrest.

Rabies vaccinations are $10 and other vaccines for dogs and cats are available at reduced rates.  The clinic is a good opportunity for pet owners to renew a license or obtain a new one.  Licenses and current rabies vaccinations are required for all dogs in Mission Viejo, Laguna Niguel, Aliso Viejo, Rancho Santa Margarita and Laguna Hills.  Please bring all dogs on leashes and cats in carriers.  (A $2 medical disposal fee is charged for each animal.)

Microchipping is also available for $20.

For more information, call 949-470-3045 or visit http://www.cmvas.org.

Will the clinic that was cancelled from last night be rescheduled to a new date soon? or will we have to wait until May?

Can someone please explain for our edification why the clinic was "cancelled due to rain"? It's not like it was going to be held outdoors or the vaccinations don't work if it's raining out!

FWIW it wasn't actually raining during the time scheduled (1730-1930 on the 10th) although it had been raining off and on throughout the day.

It just seems very odd; what am I not understanding here?

Thanks in advance for offering this! It's a valuable resource!

The clinics are in fact held outside. At noon, when we needed to make the call so that all the staff and veterinarians could be canceled (something we can’t do at the last minute) it was raining. The weather report showed 80% chance of rain at 5:30 when the clinic started. Also, we use laptops during the clinics and couldn't take a chance that the computers would become wet and damaged. We had one staff member standing out in light rain until 6:30 to direct people to another low coast (non-city) clinic in town on March 11. We are very sorry for the cancellation and really did try to accommodate everyone. We hope to see you at one of our next clinics on May 12 or June 23.
