July 4th Street Faire canceled amid COVID-19 concerns, but fireworks show expected to go on

4th of july street faire

The 2020 July 4th Street Faire won't be held in Mission Viejo this summer because of ongoing concerns about the coronavirus and uncertainty over when the state may lift its ban on large events. However, the annual fireworks show is expected to go on.

The Mission Viejo Activities Committee, which hosts the popular event each year, always places the safety of the community as the top priority, and based on the current landscape, holding a street faire which attracts thousands of people would be extremely difficult with physical distancing restrictions.

The committee is still working toward hosting the fireworks show and will provide an update once it is confirmed.  Stay tuned to mvactivities.com for more information.

Just wondering about the fireworks show. Won’t people be sitting shoulder to shoulder to watch it? We’ve been for many years in a row and it’s always packed! Can’t imagine how social distancing would work.

So disappointed the street fair was canceled. Please don’t cancel the fireworks show. Those that are still in fear of a virus that has a 99.9x recovery rate should stay home. Those that do not live in fear should have the freedom to attend.
