New curbside service begins at the library this week

curbside library services

In an effort to provide a valuable service to the community during the pandemic, the Mission Viejo Library is starting curbside services this week.

From noon to 4 pm through Friday, June 5, folks who received a “holds” notice during the closure can now pick up their item at the library. Simply park in a designated space and follow the instructions on the sign.

Then on June 8, curbside service will begin for new “holds” Monday through Friday from noon to 4 pm. This means people can place a hold on all items in the library’s catalog. Patrons will receive an automated notice when these items are ready for pickup. Park in a designated space and follow the instructions on the sign.

Drive-up book drops in the parking lot have also been reopened for returns.

The Mission Viejo Library is located at 100 Civic Center. For more information, call 949-830-7100, ext. 5101.

We do not have a date yet for the return of book donations. That will occur when the Library building and bookstore reopen. Please stay tuned to the City's website, eNewsletter and social media channels for news on any changes to the status of the Library and bookstore.

What if you would like to take out a book that’s not on hold? That’s on the shelf? How can you do that?

Beginning June 8th, you will be able to use the library online catalog to place a hold on titles that are on the shelf, and you will be notified when they are ready for you to pick up.

Books can be returned now, using the drive-up book drops in the parking lot. The walk up book drop is closed during curbside hours so that we can keep the books on hold clean and quarantined until they are picked up.

Will the wifi be made available so that it can be accessed from the parking lot or around the building for those who need internet?
