City increasing MV Shuttle routes to cater to more students

mv shuttle bus

More students will have the chance to hop aboard the MV Shuttle, thanks to new route changes designed to cater to the shuttle’s increasing popularity among high school students.

The MV Shuttle has been serving Capistrano Valley High School at morning and afternoon bell times since its inception last fall.  Starting Monday, October 9, the shuttle will make a new 5:20 p.m. stop at the school to accommodate students who participate in after-school activities.

The MV Shuttle will also introduce an afternoon pick-up at Mission Viejo High School.  The shuttle will break away from its regular route between the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center and Laguna Niguel/MV Metrolink station arriving at Mission Viejo High School around 3:30 p.m.

The shuttle will then loop through a special drop-off run of 24 stops covering the core of the school community within the City (see attached map and list of stops) before returning to the community center.  The entire run is expected to take about 30-35 minutes.  The school pick-up stop is located on Chrisanta Drive just north of the electronic message board (see photo).  Students should look for the blue and green “MV Shuttle” sign.

The City is offering this convenient free service to help ease the burden of student pick-up and help reduce traffic congestion.  While the MV Shuttle is currently unable to provide morning service at Mission Viejo High School, the City is studying options for expanding future shuttle service.

It would be great if you could expand the routes further. For example, could you expand so that there is a route that goes between Olympiad and Marguerite. It would be great to be able to stop at the Lake Mission Viejo entrance - this would reduce parking congestion at the lake too. Thank you for this service - my kids use it all the time to go to Capistrano Valley High School and Saddleback College. They are excited that they are helping the environment by reducing the number of cars on the road.

I meant to ask when in the morning does the service start. I understand the service already started this fall, but cannot find a schedule anywhere.
Thank you for your answer!

I’m not sure who I need to talk to about this, but another shuttle is desperately needed at capo valley. My son tries to get on - gets in line every day, and it’s always full. Is it possible to add another route?
