County allows more businesses to reopen and activities resume

City of Mission Viejo

Acting County Health Officer Dr. Clayton Chau gave the green light for reopening more industries in Orange County including movie theaters, hotels and shopping malls.

While more businesses reopen, the new health order in effect today strongly recommends most residents wear a cloth face covering outside their homes when unable to physically distance themselves by six feet.

Other businesses and activities allowed to reopen (or resume) with state-industry specific guidelines in place include family entertainment centers; restaurants, wineries and bars; zoos and museums; gyms and fitness centers; retail; campgrounds and outdoor recreation; public and HOA swimming pools; church services; hair salons; and childcare. (See the full list of businesses at this link.)

Keeping with evolving State and County guidelines, the City of Mission is reopening recreation center swimming pools for lap swimming (only) as well as the pickleball courts at the Sierra Recreation Center.

Thank you for opening the parks, pools and the MAC. I've been a Nadadore since as early as 1981, when my parents moved to MV.

I ask that the City continues to review requirements for operations that are updated and in line with county guidelines. We should not be required to wear masks to the city-owned outdoor facility (public), and we should be able to use handrails for safety. The restrooms should be open, especially if we can stock them with adequate soap and paper towels. Thanks! We are all very excited to be back in the pools this week! This is what MV is all about - healthy recreation and support of well families!

Are masks not required on Oso Creek Trail? Went for a walk yesterday and most people were NOT wearing masks and the sign at the entrance doesn’t mention a mask requirement.

Per State and County health officials, masks are required whenever 6' of distance cannot be maintained between individuals. There is social distancing signage at main entrances to the Oso Creek trail and new signage is currently being made and will be installed soon.
