Join cancer survivors and caregivers at the Relay For Life of South Orange County on Saturday, August 28 from 2 to 10 pm on the Village Green at Oso Viejo Community Park in Mission Viejo.

The event begins at 2 pm with a ceremony and first lap celebrating cancer survivors and caregivers. There will be activities for all ages; education; entertainment; and walking or running the track. The night will end with the popular luminaria ceremony - hundreds of luminarias will be lit, displaying the names and messages of all those remembered who have passed due to cancer.

If you're looking for an exciting new job in the hospitality and service industry, now's your chance. Oso Creek Golf Course has an array of full- and part-time jobs available.

Positions include servers, bussers, line cooks and golf cart attendants. 

The positions, which start at $14 per hour, provide a good opportunity to be part of a growing, friendly team. The facility is hiring age 16 and older.

Mission Viejo's William S. Craycraft Park is among the top 10 public restrooms in the country, according to the Cintas Corporation, which selected finalists for its 2021 America's Best Restroom contest.

The public can vote online for the park restrooms at 23650 Via Linda through August 20, and the winning facility will receive restroom cleaning services as well recognition in the America's Best Restroom Hall of Fame.

Part of an ongoing effort to help people in our community, the City of Mission Viejo is hosting its next drive-through food drive from 9 to 11 am on Saturday, August 21 at the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center, 24932 Veterans Way.

The final Team Captain and Event Committee meeting for Relay For Life of South Orange County is at 6:30 pm on Tuesday, August 17 in the Sycamore Room at the Norman P. Murray Community Center, 24932 Veterans Way. The meeting will also be held virtually.

Symphony in the Cities and Prelude in the Park returns to the Village Green at 4 pm Saturday, August 14 at Oso Viejo Community Park, 24932 Veterans Way.

Island Voyage - a unique steel drum band - will perform during this year's Symphony in the Cities and Prelude in the Park event on Saturday, August 14 on the Village Green at Oso Viejo Community Park.

Island Voyage captures the mood of the tropics with the exciting sounds and rhythms of the Caribbean. The band's goal is to make people happy by creating memories that last a lifetime.

The second Oso Creek Golf Course and Public Space Virtual Workshop that took place on Tuesday is now available online, offering residents the opportunity to obtain the latest updates and learn about exciting project alternatives for the City's Vision Plan. 

Developing a Vision Plan for the Oso Creek Golf Course and neighboring public space will help identify alternatives for the best uses of this public space in the future. 

Local musician Philip Bardowell will perform during a special tribute for healthcare workers at the Symphony in the Cities and Prelude in the Park event Saturday, Aug. 14 on the Village Green at Oso Viejo Community Park.
