Children and their parents are invited to tune in at 1 pm to a virtual Writers Present with children’s author Maryrose Wood on Saturday, January 23.

Maryrose is best known for penning "The Incorrigible Children of Ashton Place," the acclaimed middle-grade series about a teenage governess and her three raised-by-wolves pupils, published by Balzer + Bray. Titles in the six-book series have appeared on “Best Children’s Books of the Year” lists from NPR, Christian Science Monitor, Kirkus and others.

Congratulations to Mission Viejo resident Barbara Attell, the first lucky winner in the Friends of the Library’s “Fabulous Fall Fundraiser.”

The fundraiser is meant to help update and replenish the library’s collection while the Friends’ bookstore is closed.

If you’ve been by the Mission Viejo Library lately, you’ve probably spotted the colorful, artistic installation near the Kershaw Garden. This welcoming spot provides temporary outdoor seating and study space with vibrant barriers to aid in maintaining social distance and safety.

Visitors can enjoy the fall weather in the shaded seating areas, and public Wi-Fi is available during library operating hours: Tuesdays and Thursdays from noon to 8 pm and Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from noon to 5 pm. The Lounge is up until Thanksgiving and will return in 2021.

Kids can strengthen their read-aloud skills by reading to Roxy, a beautiful trained therapy dog. Roxy lifts spirits and helps kids find joy in reading- even through a screen!
