Military & Veterans

On this special day, we honor and remember the men and women of the armed forces. The public ceremony will include a military keynote and guest speaker; live vocal performance of patriotic songs; presentation of colors by the Marine Color guard; a three-volley rifle salute and taps. The ceremony will feature sign language interpretation to support folks with hearing impairments.

An outdoor dessert and beverage reception will immediately follow the ceremony.

Register today for the 9th annual Mission Armed Forces (MAF) game this fall at Mission Viejo High School. Mission Football is honoring the brave men and women who served in the armed forces at the MAF game on Friday, September 16.

You can help support the men and women who fight for our freedoms through the Adopt-A-Marine program and by donating items for care packages or expecting military families.   

The City of Mission Viejo, Marine Adoption Committee and Mission Viejo Community Foundation work year-round to enhance the lives of our adopted Marines and Sailors of the Headquarters Battalion, 1st Marine Division from Camp Pendleton. 

Join us in honoring those who have served and given the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. Light refreshments will follow ceremony.

Help support the men and women who fight for our freedoms by donating much-needed items for the members of our City’s adopted Headquarters Battalion, 1st Marine Division from Camp Pendleton.  

Help make the holidays brighter for the families of our adopted Marines by donating new, unwrapped toys during a special donation drive from 9 to 11 am on Saturday, December 4 at the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center, 24932 Veterans Way. Led by the Mission Viejo Marines and Sailors Adoption Committee, the drive-through event will benefit members of the City’s adopted Headquarters Battalion, 1st Marine Division.

Make the holidays brighter for Marine Corps families by donating new, unwrapped toys. Donations benefit over 1,200 Marines and Sailors of the Headquarters Battalion, 1st Marine Division from Camp Pendleton. 

Donations are also being accepted at all the Recreation and Tennis Centers as well as City Hall and the Library from November 29 through December 22.

The City of Mission Viejo’s annual Veterans Day ceremony is at 2 pm on Thursday, November 11 at the Norman P. Murray Community Center. 

The public ceremony includes comments by Colonel Seth W.B. Folsom, commanding officer of the Headquarters Battalion of the 1st Marine Division, and retired Army Captain Nick Saifan. The event also features a vocal performance by Philip Bardowell as well as a color guard, rifle salute and taps . The ceremony will feature sign language interpretation.
