In an effort to assist and educate the community, Mission Viejo Police Services is hosting a Mental Health Awareness Seminar on Thursday, February 9. 

The free seminar begins at 10 am at the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center.  

Local experts – Drs. Jorge and Miriam Galindo and Jasmine Victor – will discuss dementia, Alzheimer’s, mental health, the homeless crisis, memory care and education.  

Residents are encouraged to attend to obtain information and resources and join the discussion.   

Enjoy your morning coffee while chatting with members of Mission Viejo Police Services during the Coffee with a Cop event from 8-10:30 at High Ground Coffee House. 

Coffee with a Cop brings deputies and the community members they serve together - over coffee - to discuss issues and learn more about each other. 

Chief of Police Services Captain Chris McDonald, patrol deputies and other Police Services staff will be on hand in a casual setting where residents will have a chance to ask questions or share concerns.

With the magnitude 4.2 earthquake that struck near Malibu this week and high winds sparking wildfire warnings throughout the region, the City of Mission Viejo is reminding residents to sign up for AlertOC, a mass notification system designed to keep the public informed of earthquakes, wildfires and other local emergencies. 

After a recent spike in vehicle thefts in Orange County cities, Mission Viejo Police Services is reminding residents to keep their personal belongings safe.

Follow these simple safety tips to protect yourself from becoming a victim:

  • Remove all valuables and visible items when you leave your vehicle
  • Roll up all the windows
  • Lock your vehicle and set the alarm
  • When out, park in open, well-lit, populated areas
  • Park in a secure garage if possible

With the holiday season underway, Mission Viejo Police Services is reminding residents to beware of crimes of opportunities related to online shopping and deliveries. 

To help keep the Grinch at bay and your packages safe, be sure to: 

Learn safety skills and test your knowledge on ten different courses at the Bike/E-bike Rodeo on Saturday, November 5 from 9 am to noon in the lower parking lot at St. Kilian Church, 26872 Estanciero.

Featuring instruction by Mission Viejo Police Services, participants will learn bike/e-bike rules of the road and lessons on how to properly adjust bikes and helmets.
