The City is gearing up for its Oso Fit Drive-Through Community Health Fair at 9 am on Saturday, February 27 at the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center.

Designed to benefit the community - and part of the now Oso Fit Virtual 5K event - the free Health Fair features health and wellness organizations displaying their healthy programs and products and offering giveaways and handouts.

Part of an ongoing effort to help people in our community, the City of Mission Viejo is continuing to host drive-through food drives benefiting different nonprofits on the third Saturday of the month at the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center from 9 to 11 am.

Most-needed food items include oatmeal, pasta, hearty soups, cereal, dried beans, canned chicken, macaroni & cheese, canned fruit, canned pasta, canned chili, canned mixed vegetables (no green beans or corn), canned beef stew, peanut butter and jelly, cereal, protein bars and dinner helpers.

The City is offering a new outdoor membership amenity at the Montanoso Recreation and Fitness Center that also includes access to fitness options at three different locations.

Providing endless opportunities to meet your fitness goals, the new outdoor facility features cardio equipment, free weight areas, lifting stations and standing weight equipment. Along with this outdoor amenity, your recreation membership also includes the following flexible and convenient options:

Montanoso:

With the pandemic impacting many seniors this year, staff members at the Norman P. Murray Center are serving up cheer by hosting a special "Crushing on our Seniors" drive-through event on February 11.

Designed to show appreciation for the folks the center serves, staff members will hand out a free Valentine's candle and treat to seniors 55 and older from 11 am to noon in the community center parking lot.

Placement of a plaque or name plate on the Wall of Recognition is reserved for those who have provided extraordinary, lasting, and highly significant service contributions to the community.

Nominations may be submitted by, but are not limited to, the nominee's family member, a member of the Mission Viejo community, a local official or someone from a non-profit organization or business with whom the proposed nominee is or was affiliated. Nominations will be considered and reviewed on an annual basis. Current elected officials are not eligible.

Get ready to test your knowledge to win prizes and forever bragging rights in the first Parking Lot Trivia on Friday, February 5 in the Norman P. Murray Center parking lot.

The socially distant fun-filled event takes place from 10-11 am and focuses on trivia from the 1950s and '60s. Participants will remain in their cars while enjoying trivia and "Name that Tune."  Winners will receive prizes.
