A Drive-Through Shoe Drive collection is taking place from 9 am to noon Saturday, November 7 to benefit the nonprofit American Soldier Network working to help people in need here and abroad.

Bring your gently worn, used and new shoes to the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center parking lot, and volunteers will collect them from your trunk. (Masks are required to drive up and donate.)

With 2020 posing tremendous hardships on so many people, particularly the most vulnerable populations, the City and Mission Viejo Community Foundation are hoping to shine a bright light on our senior community this Thanksgiving.

The City is seeking businesses, organizations and individuals interested in sponsoring a senior's Thanksgiving meal for $15. This generous donation will provide a holiday meal with all the trimmings to local low- and fixed-income seniors the City has been providing food and resources to during the pandemic.

In gratitude of the wonderful seniors in our community, staff members at the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center are celebrating Thanksgiving with a free mini-pie drive-through event on Thursday, November 19.

Seniors (55 and older) are invited to drive up to the center's parking lot from 11 am to noon to get a free holiday sweet while supplies last. (COVID-19 safety procedures will be in place.)

The Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center is located at 24932 Veterans Way.  For more information, call 949-470-3062.

From beginning guitar and ukulele to iPhone photography and abstract painting, the City's artistic virtual classes will have you embracing your creativity.

An array of online classes kick off in November. Check them out and register at this link today.

Before Election Day, you have another important vote to cast! Vote for your favorite scarecrow this spooky season.

Groups and organizations tapped their creative sides building scarecrows for the City's 4th annual Scarecrow Contest. Cash prizes will be awarded to the winning designers - courtesy of the Mission Viejo Chamber of Commerce.

The City of Mission Viejo's first Drive-in Movie, Sponsored by Evolution Swim Academy, will showcase a crowd favorite "Coco" on October 30 at Saddleback College. The City’s Montanoso and Sierra Recreation Centers are gearing up to reopen to the public on October 5 in accordance with the recently issued state guidelines.

The City of Mission Viejo continues to follow evolving state and local guidelines under the statewide emergency order and has been proactively modifying reopening plans to comply with the new guidelines to ensure patrons remain safe. In anticipation of the October 5 reopening date, the City updated its custodial agreements, staffing schedules and safety measures to welcome members back.

It still feels like summer, but fall is in the air – meaning scarecrow season is quickly approaching. The City will place more than 50 scarecrows in public places throughout the community and is seeking businesses and nonprofit organizations – churches, scouts, schools and charities – to make a scarecrow for the chance to win a cash prize.
