The Mission Viejo Nadadores dive team is celebrating the outstanding victory by Avery Giese who won the 12-13 girls’ 1-meter title this weekend at the 2019 USA Diving Junior National Championship in Knoxville, Tennessee. Avery is the Nadadores’ first national champion since 2016. Teammate Taylor Fox followed with an impressive 5th-place finish.

“We are so proud of the new era of diving for the Mission Viejo Nadadores, thanks to the City’s renovation of the Marguerite Aquatics Center,” said Head Coach Michele Mitchell, a two-time Olympic silver medalist.  “The Nadadores dive team qualified 17 juniors to the National Championships in Knoxville and have had tremendous results so far. Numerous finalists and medalists capped off with a second-generation Nadadores first national title! Avery’s mother was a diver with the Nadadores in the early 90s … talk about a legacy.”

The USA Diving Junior National Championships continue through August 6.
