Council meeting included special recognitions, important data and new partnership agreement

council meeting

The Council on Tuesday recognized some exemplary and talented individuals as well as approved a Community Outreach and Partnership Agreement with two neighboring cities.

During the presentation portion of the meeting, the Medal of Valor Award recipients from the Orange County Sheriff's Department as well as the recipients of the Mothers Against Drunk Driving Awards were recognized for their individual, outstanding efforts.

In another presentation, Chief of Police Services Jason Ivins spoke about data from the County’s 2024 Point In Time Count and noted recent and upcoming events in the City with the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.

To raise awareness of preventable tragedies, the Council proclaimed the months of May through August as Drowning Prevention and Awareness Season. Drowning remains the leading cause of death and disability in California for children under five. For every child who dies from drowning, another seven receive emergency care for non-fatal submersion injuries.

In other news, as discussed at the April 23 meeting, the Council approved awarding a Community Outreach and Partnership Agreement with the cities of Laguna Hills and Rancho Santa Margarita.

The Council meets on the second and fourth Tuesday of the month. Meetings are streamed live on the City’s website and air on Cox Channel 30 and AT&T U-Verse Channel 99. Residents are encouraged to sign up for the City's eNewsletter and follow the City's official social media sites for the most accurate, up-to-date information.
