Dispose of unwanted, used or expired prescription medications on National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day

prescription medication bottles

You can dispose of your unwanted, used or expired prescription medications during the drive-through National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day on Saturday, April 30 at Mission Viejo City Hall.

The event is from 10 am to 2 pm at 200 Civic Center.

National Prescription Drug Take Back Day aims to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse of medications. The need for education is certainly there. In fact, 60-70 percent of teens report their home medicine cabinet as their source for drugs. Don't let your medicine cabinet be the source of drugs for anyone!

You can drop-off your medications anonymously with no questions asked. (No sharps, marijuana, liquids or pressure cannisters.)

For more information, call 949-470-8433.

How do we bring the prescriptions? Do we take them out of their bottles and put them all in a bag ? Do bottles of things like cough syrup qualify too or just pills? thanks for doing this, I never know what to do with these expired prescriptions.

Thank you for your comment on the City’s News page. No liquids will be accepted, but you may leave any pills in their containers if you wish.
