The City of Mission Viejo and Mission Viejo Activities Committee are gearing up for the holidays with several fun family-friendly events for all ages.

Gifts and Goodies Holiday Boutique - Saturday, Nov. 20, 8 am-5 pm
Get a head start on your holiday shopping at the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center. With a longtime reputation as one of the best boutiques in South Orange County, the boutique boasts talented artisans displaying handcrafted items perfect for holiday decorating, gifts and ornaments.

Santa’s Arrival and Illumination – Sunday, Nov. 28, 5-6 pm
Enjoy holiday music for children of all ages by local band Sierra. Keep your eyes open to see some of Santa’s special friends from the North Pole. Santa will arrive atop of a fire engine at 6 pm and will help ring in the spirit of the season by turning on the holiday lights in Mission Viejo.

Santa’s Workshop – Saturday and Sunday only, Dec. 4-19, 6-8 pm
Jolly old Santa Claus will plan several return visits to his workshop. Along with Mrs. Claus and the elves, Santa will greet all visitors with a cheerful, Ho! Ho! Ho! and a peppermint candy cane. You are welcome to take pictures during your visit.

Letters to Santa – Nov. 28-Dec. 19
Santa promises to answer every holiday wish list deposited in the mailbox next to his workshop between November 29 and December 21. The bearded soul will personally respond to the delight of adults and children alike. Make sure to get your letter in early and print names and addresses clearly.

Home Lighting Contest – Deadline: Dec. 3 at 5 pm
Preliminary judging: Dec. 5-6, final judging: Dec. 10
All Mission Viejo residents are encouraged to brighten their neighborhood and share the holiday spirit by competing in the annual Holiday Lighting Contest. Winners will receive prizes in addition to the “Winner Sign” for their front yard and a photo. Apply online.

Rudolph’s Rink – Dec. 6-13
Come and enjoy this new one-week only event. All are welcome to sit back, relax, and take in the holiday ambiance whether you skate of not. Skating can be a family fun activity. Each 40-minute session begins on the hour. Skate rental is $10. A signed waiver is required for each participant. The waiver will be available early December. Please note Rudolph's Rink is a synthetic skate rink that allows all to have the opportunity to skate outdoors in Southern California.

What is the name of the holiday that these activities are associated with? Is it the holiday that is a federal, state, and local holiday named Christmas (and all of you will certainly not be working that day), but you won't mention the name? Will you also have in FRONT of the La Paz nativity display this year, another Bahai display or will it be the psychic one this year, although the three other displays never have anything blocking their displays!
