History of Mission Viejo Part II: The early years

Former Mission Viejo Company executive and longtime resident Bob Bunyan will provide fun history about the early years of this master-planned community at 3 pm on Sunday, February 23 in the Mission Viejo Council Chamber at 200 Civic Center.

During this free presentation, he will discuss aspects that no longer exist in Mission Viejo but played an integral part in making our City special.

Bob joined Mission Viejo Company in 1971 as a corporate planner involved in market research and strategic planning for company projects and programs.  His involvement in preparing Five-Year Plans contributed to much of his knowledge about key decisions in the development of Mission Viejo – including Lake Mission Viejo, the Shops at Mission Viejo and numerous housing programs.  As the last management employee, Bob was tasked with selling assets and closing Mission Viejo Company after its 1997 acquisition by Shea Homes. He serves on the Orange County Historical Commission and is the author of “Images of America: Aliso Viejo,” published by Arcadia Publishing.

The presentation caters to folks of all ages and students (9 and older) interested in learning about local history. A question-and-answer period follows.
