Latest business news in Mission Viejo

Michaels Craft Store New Location
The City received an application for Michaels craft store to occupy the old Sports Authority building at 25462 El Paseo in the Mission Viejo Freeway Center. Next to the existing Best Buy store, the old Sports Authority space has been vacant for years. The proposed plans call for remodeling about 28,000 square feet of interior space by adding new partitions to create craft classrooms, lighting changes and minor storefront alterations to match the store's design. The new Michaels store is slated to open for business in March.

Alicia Business Center Remodel
Construction is underway at the Alicia Business Center, located at 24002 Via Fabricante on the corner of Via Fabricante and Alicia Parkway. The Planning and Transportation Commission last year gave the green light for a complete remodel renovation at this site. Comprised of five buildings, this center is getting a much-needed facelift with new cornice trim-capped parapet walls, veneer façade, light fixtures, updated monument signs, landscaping and other improvements.

It would be so nice to see the center on Marguerite and La Paz (T.Joes, Big Lots, CVS) finally looking like a center more representative of our community. Can we ever expect that to happen?

Does that mean our "Michaels on Marguerite" shall be relocating? Or will we have two crafting stores in our city? Why not! We have 3 Target stores!

congratulations to the m.v. city council for undermining at least one of the landlords across the street...as i'm sure they had a hand in this michael's move...so they can more easily get their dream "town center." all these council meetings with the closed door part being about "real estate" told me something was afoot.
let's elect some new blood neighbors....please!

The entire center of the current Michaels on Marguerite is an embarrassment. Painting is not an adequate facelift for a center that has not been updated since the 1970s.

I would like to see the shopping center at La Paz and Marguerite renovated and bring in some nice restaurants and shops.

Amen to this comment. I get my nails done here & it HAS BEEN FOREVER since they began renovating this business center. I feel for the poor tenant businesses. Shake a leg!

I agree w/ Ursula's comment. We've lived in this neighborhood since 1980 & I don't think anything's been done to refresh this center. And it's right across from City Hall & the beautiful library.

Yes the mess at Marguerite and La Paz is such a eye sore for this beautiful city.
I've lived in Mission Viejo since 2007 and this place continues to get worse instead of better. I'm surprise that it's not tagged with more graffiti then it has and with less open businesses. Come on this is Mission Viejo, the start of The Real South Orange County. Lets keep it beautiful.
Thanks,
Fred

WOULD LOVE TO SEE THE MICHAELS MOVE TO BE AT THE NOW CLOSED ORCHARD STORE. IT'S BIG, LOCAL TO ALL AND MUCH NEEDED . IT SEEMS A PERFECT PLACE FOR RELOCATION OF THIS GREAT STORE. THANK YOU, NANCY DRENNON
