New In-Person Outdoor Programming begins in May

Get ready to move, groove, hula and destress in a host of new In-Person Outdoor Programming kicking off in May.  

Registration is available today at https://cityofmissionviejo.org/register for the following fun-filled classes. 

Hula Dance Class - Kids  

Learn to hula with aloha! A school of traditional hula, the class for kids ages 5-12 focuses on teaching the fundamentals including basics steps, hand gestures, and hula movements while infusing the Hawaiian culture. Students will enjoy simple choreography as well as games to help them learn the Hawaiian language. A material fee of $5 is due to the instructor.  The class takes place at Florence Joyner Olympiad Park.

A school of traditional hula, the class for age 13 and older will focus on teaching the fundamentals including basics steps, hand gestures, and hula movements while infusing the Hawaiian culture. Hula with simple choreography will be shared. A $5 material fee is due to the instructor. The class takes place at Florence Joyner Olympiad Park.  

Jazzercise Dance Mix  

This in-person outdoor class for age 14 and older includes low- to high-intensity dance moves mixed with strength training. This muscle-sculpting, hurts-so-good-class will help create a leaner body in just 45 minutes. This class will also help boost your mental well-being! It takes place on a grass field next to the playground near the Norman P. Murray building in May and June.  

Let's Get Ready To Rumble! - Senior Boxing 

Step into the ring for a better quality of life. Boxing is the ultimate full-body workout that strengthens the entire body and will help you increase your energy level, improve balance and coordination, gain strength and increase metabolism. So, put on some gloves, get in on the action and let’s get fit without getting hit. Classes are taught by Gary “Boom Boom” Ballard, a former Super Middleweight Championship fighter. The program provides appropriate training for all ages and fitness levels. It takes place in May and June at the Norman P. Murray Center.   

Line Dancing 

Line dance classes for all levels. Dance for fun, exercise, balance, coordination and to learn a new skill. Dance to some of the old favorites and add some new ones to your repertoire. Classes take place from May to August at the Murray Center.  

TRX 

Builds a strong core, strength, flexibility, and endurance. For age 14 and older, this class is a complete training system using your body by working all three planes of motion, which allows you to strengthen muscles and joints as a group. Classes take place May through August.  

Yoga in the Park

Outdoor yoga class for all levels and people 12 and older. Beginners are welcome. Bring a yoga mat to Vista Del Lago Park. Classes take place May through August.
