Olympians who made their mark in Mission Viejo will celebrate Marguerite Aquatics Complex Grand Re-Opening

“Continuing Mission Viejo’s Olympic Tradition,” the Marguerite Aquatics Complex will make a historic splash for its Grand Re-Opening Celebration on Saturday, April 7.

Ushering in a new chapter of our City’s swimming and diving legacy, the event will give folks a chance to meet Olympians including Greg Louganis, Rowdy Gaines and our very own Brian Goodell. Other Olympians who made their mark in Mission Viejo will include Amy White Ballidis, Michele Mitchell, Mike O’Brien, Rich Saeger, Kaitlin Sandeno, Jennifer Brinegar, Steve Barnicoat, Rick Earley and Carolyn Schuler Jones. Get a sneak peek through the latest episode of “Coaches Corner with Paul Higgins” at the Aquatics Complex featuring Michele Mitchell.

The April 7 celebration will also boast a diving demonstration, Nadadores’ historical timeline and photo opportunities with and autographs from the Olympians.

Families will enjoy crafts and games like Olympic torch making and an Olympic ring toss. There will be two water obstacle courses with timed heats for swimmers to take home a ribbon; splash time with a chance to walk on water in bubble balls; and other fun activities in and out of the pool. (A swim test is required for all pool activities.)  Entry to the event is FREE with food trucks providing delectable fare for purchase.

Opening ceremonies are from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. with a host of activities taking place from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 27474 Casta Del Sol. Guest parking will be provided at Trabuco Hills High School with FREE shuttles to the event (no parking on site).

I was Carolyn Schuler's roommate at Pacific in the 1960's and I am trying to get in touch with her. I have lost all contact with her so am hoping that you can possibly help.

Thank you
