Outstanding individuals and accomplishments recognized Tuesday

2022 employees of the year with their managers and city council

The City Council on Tuesday embraced the accomplishments of 2022 and recognized some outstanding individuals for their efforts.

Celebrating those who go above and beyond the call of duty, the City Council honored the 2022 Employees of the Year for Mission Viejo Police Services, the Orange County Fire Authority and City.

The outstanding Marines of the Quarter from our City’s adopted Headquarters Battalion, 1st Marine Division were also feted for their amazing efforts.

In anticipation of the City’s 35th anniversary this year, the 2022 State of the City video premiered, highlighting some wonderful accomplishments from 2022.

Along with the recognitions, the Council also received a presentation from U.S. Representative Young Kim who spoke about how her new office space in Mission Viejo City Hall will enable residents to more easily contact her and her staff with questions or concerns.

The City Council meets at 6 pm on the second and fourth Tuesday of the month in the Council Chamber. Meetings are streamed live on the City’s website and air on Cox Channel 30 and AT&T U-Verse Channel 99. Residents are encouraged to sign up for the City's eNewsletter and follow the City's official social media sites for the most accurate, up-to-date information.

I just watched the presentation of certificates and awards by the community, to include the City of Mission Viejo, to two of our outstanding Marines of Headquarters Battalion, 1st Mar Div, and I am overjoyed! As a retired Marine who left military service years ago from MCAS El Toro and settled in Mission Viejo, I can speak to the value of community support for these young military members who most of the time are far from where they grew up and where their families reside.
Mission Viejo, you do it very well! God bless.
