QR codes are key to important messages and prizes at Walk Against Drugs on Oct. 16

walk against drugs

In a shift from past walks, this year’s Walk Against Drugs from 8 am to noon on Saturday, October 16 will follow a designated path along the Oso Creek Trail and feature educational QR code stations. Also different from past events, patrons can arrive to the event at 24932 Veterans Way any time between 8-11 am.

QR code stations will be set-up throughout the path for participants to peruse. Each station will feature an important educational video that participants can view on their mobile phones. Every video viewed gives folks a chance to win great prizes. If you don’t have a mobile phone, you can still participate. A representative at each station can collect your information after viewing the video.

The videos include some well-known people including Olympian Michael Chang and actress Kayden Tokarski, who is serving as keynote speaker, among others.

Patrons can interact with various specialty units from the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, Orange County Fire Authority and other community partners. This event is for people of all ages and youth in grades K-12 are encouraged to don red T-shirts in honor of Red Ribbon Week in October.

Stay tuned to the City’s eNewsletter and social media sites for more details about the event.
