Save the date for exhilarating music, entertainment events in one-of-a-kind spot
Experience the Oso Creek Trail in a whole new way through "Subterranean Soundscapes," a free event series kicking off this month featuring live music and entertainment in the acoustically rich Jeronimo Tunnel.
This space was recently enhanced with a vibrant mural that sets the scene for excitement, and each event will boast different lighting effects to spotlight the colorful surroundings, covering visitors in an audio and visual experience like no other site in the City.
On Friday, January 26, dance the night away with a silent disco party wearing wireless headphones that let you choose your groove. With three unique music channels, there's something for everyone. The silent disco takes place from 6 to 9 pm and headphones are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Then on Wednesday, February 21, enjoy the melodic harmonies of WestBeat acapella vocalists from 7 to 8 pm. This vibrant group of singers performs top 40 hits from the 20th century and today. After that, get ready for reggae night with Upstream Band on Wednesday, March 13 from 7 to 8 pm. Steel drums and tropical beats will take you on a sun-soaked journey.
Keep an eye out for future "Subterranean Soundscapes" events that will captivate your senses!

I stop and sing every time I walk through the tunnel. I have had people tell me they could hear me from WAAAAY down the path!!
It’s so AWESOME!! These events look so great!

Thank you for your comment on the News page and interest in these exciting events. The Jeronimo Tunnel is located on the Oso Creek Trail underneath Jeronimo Road near the intersection of Arbolitos.

This is supposed to be a quiet nature trail not a disco. Why are you doing this?

I had to giggle when I read Alan Andreasen's comment about singing in the tunnel. You are not alone! I cannot walk through there without singing because the acoustics are out of this world. It's like singing in a professional concert hall - and THOSE have special amplification peripherals. Did you know that singing (and listening to music) has both mental and physical benefits? According to Healthline, singing helps elevate stress, boosts the immune system, improves lung function and more. So for those who "poo-poo" these events, at least sing in the shower and see if it makes YOU feel better!

Errata... it was Suzanne Dohert who commented she sings in the tunnel, not Alan Andreasen. #keepsinging

Maryanne Shults, the article…
Maryanne Shults, the article states that it will be a silent disco with people wearing headphones so there will be little to no sound! Also, these are special events occurring for a few hours at reasonable times once per month in a public space. People need some enjoyment and happiness in their lives, and we are fortunate to live in an area that provides unique experiences for us, such as these concerts. In this spirit, I hope that you too might attend and feel for yourself the positive energy and joy that events such as this produce.
