Thousands flock to City of Mission Viejo event making it the largest in history

symphony crowd

More than 6,000 people gathered Saturday at the Symphony in the Cities and Prelude in the Park – making it the largest crowd to attend this longtime event.

Patrons gathered on the Village Green at Oso Viejo Community Park for the annual event featuring live music with renowned Music Director Carl St.Clair and Pacific Symphony. Prior to the concert, the Prelude included several dozen community booths filled with fun activities for all ages as well as a rock-climbing wall, bungee jumping, over-sized beach ball pit, tabletop games, three incredible motocross shows by Fitz Army’s Javier Villegas and Dereck Beckering, several delectable food trucks, and live music by the band Pop Vision.

Closing out the night with Pacific Symphony’s performance were two aerialists from Orange County Aerial Arts that surprised concert-goers with beautiful acrobatic displays to the songs “On the Beautiful Blue Danube” and “The Stars and Stripes Forever.”

Symphony in the Cities will return next year with a huge celebration of the City’s 35th anniversary.

I brought 2 of my grandchildren and one of their friends. Another of their friends joined us unexpectedly. For two of the four, it was their first time at the Symphony in the Cities. It turned out to be a wonderful evening culminating in a rousing display of Patriotism celebrating our Veterans from every branch of the military. My grandson, Noah, turned to me and said
" Mission Viejo certainly knows how to celebrate the United States of America."
It is with great appreciation that I express our gratitude for every member of our wonderful and talented City Staff, all the volunteers and the extraordinary Pacific Symphony who made August 13, 2022 such a special evening. We desperately needed that huge dose of patriotism and we were not disappointed. We left with a big smile on our faces and in our hearts. So grateful to live in wonderful Mission Viejo.
