Volunteers sought for new City Trail Ambassador Program

trail

Mission Viejo Police Services and the City are seeking volunteers for the new Trail Ambassador Program (TAP).

The program is designed to provide educational interactions between the City and trail users while delivering a message that reflects the importance of trail safety and responsible trail use to visitors. It will also provide an opportunity to deliver timely and accurate information regarding the Civic Core project and other trail enhancements. Police Services is seeking volunteers who enjoy the outdoors and interacting with people and are interested in hitting the trails on bikes, electric bikes or at popup booth locations. Folks interested in participating will receive training in relevant laws and best practices, bicycle safety, Civic Core and trail enhancements, and general City knowledge.

Along with the TAP program, Mission Viejo Police Services is also seeking volunteers for the Senior Corps of Retirees (SCOR) program. These volunteers perform many important services that enhance our community’s safety including working at City Hall’s Police Services help desk; patrol unit that includes home checks and removing illegally posted signs; and helping at community events such as National Night Out and Walk Against Drugs. SCOR volunteers are 55 and older, retired and reside in the City.

If you are interested in TAP or SCOR, contact 949-470-8433 or crimeprevention@cityofmissionviejo.org

This is a great, very necessary program! Last weekend my husband and I were walking at Oso Creek and 5 boys on E-bikes went by way too fast and one kicked his leg out to taunt us and yelled profanity at us. It could have been a very bad situation! These kids are so disrespectful and fearless on these electric bikes!
