Gerloff is originally from Boston and has a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree from the Massachusetts College of Art. She has worked as a graphic designer, artists’ representative, and corporate director of education. Upon retirement, she became an exhibiting partner in a Laguna Beach art gallery.
She has served as chairperson for the Mission Viejo Cultural Arts Committee and designed several projects for the City, including paintings displayed on the Creekside Terrace at the Norman P. Murray Center and the historic mosaic on Marguerite Parkway.
Gerloff now teaches drawing and watercolor classes for the cities of Irvine and Newport Beach, as well as the City of Mission Viejo.

I've been painting with…
I've been painting with watercolors since 1995 & have taken classes from a variety of instructors but until starting classes with Marlene, I didn't understand anything about color values, the design of the drawing or the understanding of using a reference picture or photo. Her constructive criticism is so valuable & is always done in a positive way.
