Road closures in place this Sunday for OC Triathlon
With hundreds of elite athletes taking part in the annual Orange County Triathlon on Sunday, April 28, the City is reminding residents to be aware of road closures in place.
This Olympic-distance event traverses Mission Viejo neighborhoods and surrounding communities and includes a 1.5K swim in Lake Mission Viejo. Athletes then ride along the 40K bike course through Santiago Canyon, with part of the race crossing the 1984 Olympic finish line near the lake. Other events include an Aquathon and Duathlon.
Residents should be aware the following road closures on April 28:
- Marguerite Parkway: Mustang Run to El Toro from 6 - 9 am
- Marguerite Parkway: Vista del Lago to Mustang Run from 5 - 11 am
- Los Alisos Blvd: Novena to Mustang Run from 7 - 11 am
- Olympiad Road: Melinda to Marguerite from 5 am - noon
Note: Melinda Road entrance to Lake Mission Viejo will remain open to athletes and lake members only. Vista del Lago will remain open. Additional intersections may incur delays.
The Mission Viejo community has rallied to make the OC Triathlon-Duathlon a long-standing event that helps local and national charities. Check out octriseries.com or call 760-713-3353 or email info@octriseries.com for more information.

It’s a total of 3 mornings in the spring. It’s barely an inconvenience.
