With National Animal Control Officer Appreciation Week underway, the City is taking the opportunity to recognize the dedicated officers of the Mission Viejo Animal Services Center.

Officer Erik Mansoor is one of eight highly trained officers serving Mission Viejo, Aliso Viejo, Laguna Niguel, Laguna Hills and Rancho Santa Margarita.

Dress your pup in a creative costume and head to the DAWG Adoption Extravaganza & Pet Fair Saturday, October 6 for the chance to win forever bragging rights in the costume contest.

The City of Mission Viejo Animal Services Center and Dedicated Animal Welfare Group (DAWG) team up to host this fun event along the Village Green at Oso Viejo Community Park.

Weighing in at a hearty 97 pounds, Mozart is a young pup at only a year old. Based on his large stature and classic looks, he’s most likely a King Shepherd.  Larger than the more common German Shepherd, these types of dogs are extremely intelligent, easy to train and eager to please their owners.  They are a naturally courageous breed, showcasing their strength and bravery in their role as the family protector.

Santa Paws is coming to town for a great cause. On Saturday, December 9, you and your pet can have your photo snapped with Santa and help support the Mission Viejo Animal Services Center.

The holiday event is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Winter Wonderland Village nestled in the Kershaw Garden at the City’s Civic Center, 200 Civic Center.

Cost is $20 for the portrait with Santa, and all proceeds will benefit the City’s animal shelter at 28095 Hillcrest. Photos will be printed immediately following the sitting.

Mama Goose is a 1-year-old black cat who delivered seven kittens while at the Mission Viejo Animal Service Center. Her babies have all been adopted except for this sweet cat.

Mama Goose is still much like a kitten herself. She is playful, energetic and enjoys chasing ping-pong balls around the play room. She is independent and very curious. She likes interacting with people but is also content on her own. She is a smart and vocal cat with expressive eyes.
