In an effort to help residents impacted by the COVID-19 crisis and give others a chance to give back, the City will continue hosting Food Drives with fun themes and music.
Following the May 2 food drive that resulted in 8,000 pounds of food collected, the City will host additional drives from 9-11 am on May 16, May 30, June 13 and June 27 at the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center, 24932 Veterans Way.

Head to the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center at 4 pm on November 9 for a special free Lecture and Artist Reception featuring photographer and world traveler Cynthia Bell Niermann.
Cynthia has exhibited paintings and photography around California. A longtime meditation practitioner and teacher of the healing arts, she documents her incredible travels through photographs.
Award-winning artist and bestselling author David Shannon will present his latest book for children "Mr. Nogginbody Gets a Hammer" on Friday, October 25.
The program begins at 6 p.m. in the Sycamore Room of the Norman P. Murray Community Center at 24932 Veterans Way.
David Shannon has written and illustrated more than 35 books for children. In 1999, his semi-autobiographical story, "No, David!" received a Caldecott Honor award.

The City of Mission Viejo and American Soldier Network will host a simple flag-holding and candlelight gathering to honor the people who lost their lives and the heroes who responded to the catastrophic events of 9/11.
The Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center will be closed this weekend while the West Coast Futbol soccer tournament takes place.
The closure will accommodate the many visitors expected to flock to the event at the community center and Oso Viejo Park. The facility will resume normal operations at 8 am on Monday, August 12.

The Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center will be closed Saturday, July 20 while the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints hosts its Pioneer Days event on the Village Green.
The closure will accommodate routine maintenance on the facility as well as the many visitors expected to flock to the special event. The facility will resume normal operations at noon on Sunday.

Get ready to kick up your feet and move to the beat of the Bee's Knees Speakeasy & Swing Dance featuring Got That Swing on Saturday, July 13 at the Norman P. Murray Community Center!
With live music and dancing, this event promises to engage all ages in swing dancing and a vintage speakeasy attitude. Got That Swing reaches far beyond the swing era to include pop classics from every period. You won't stop dancing when you hear them perform.
Enjoy an enchanting night under the stars experiencing one of Shakespeare's most famous and dramatic plays - "Henry V" - performed by Shakespeare by the Sea on Friday, July 19.
The production begins at 7 pm along the Village Green near the Norman Murray Community Center at 24932 Veterans Way.
In honor of the Norman P. Murray Center's 30th anniversary, we've got a full day of fun lined up on Monday, June 3.
First up is our free Open House kicking off at 9 am. Whether you were here when the center opened in 1989 or have been a patron throughout the years, you're invited to relish in the memorabilia of three decades and leave your special memory in the guest book. The Open House runs to 6 pm.

Gilbert Calderon Castro and Carlia Oldfather will be honored as Mission Viejo's Veterans of the Year on Sunday, November 11 at the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center.
