Embrace a drug-free life and win awesome prizes at Saturday’s Walk Against Drugs

The City of Mission Viejo and Orange County’s Sheriff’s Department are gearing up to host the 33rd Annual Walk Against Drugs from 8 am to noon on Saturday, October 16.

In a shift from past walks, this year’s Walk Against Drugs will follow a designated path along the Oso Creek Trail and feature QR code stations. Each station will feature an important educational video that participants can view on their mobile phones.

The videos include some well-known people including Olympian Michael Chang and actress Kayden Tokarski, who is serving as keynote speaker, among others.

Every video viewed gives folks a chance to win great prizes like Chromebooks, iPads, AirPods, Beats headphones, and monetary gift cards. A hedge maze with a fun scavenger hunt will also be on tap for young children. Kids can collect eggs for a chance to win kid-friendly prizes.

Mission Viejo schools can also get involved and win prizes by participating in the “Safe Schools Challenge” through the QR codes. The winning schools with the most participation will receive prizes dedicated to safety and security improvements.

Patrons can arrive to the event at 24932 Veterans Way any time between 8-11 am. The walk is for all ages, and youth in grades K-12 are encouraged to sport red T-shirts in honor of Red Ribbon Week in October.
