Animal Services

Meet Shannon, a sweet and social 1-year-old pit bull. She is endlessly affectionate and gentle with her people and is extremely well mannered on walks.

The Mission Viejo Animal Services Center is now accepting adoption applications for five adorable puppies.

The puppies, which range in size from 2 to 5 pounds, will be small dogs as adults.  Because they are tiny, but also mouthy little terrier mixes, they won't go home with families who have children under the age of 8.  They also need someone who is home often, since they are babies and require lots of attention and training.

Hop over to the Mission Viejo Animal Services Center this weekend and take home a rabbit for only $20.

As part of the "Hop Home for the Holidays" adoption promotion, the first five approved applicants will receive a "bunny starter gift set" - and all rabbits will go home spayed or neutered.

You have the opportunity to celebrate your feline or K9 while supporting a great cause through the Mission Viejo Animal Services Center’s “Holiday Tree of Memories.”

The tree is adorned with ornaments decorated by members of our community. Some were etched with tributes to pets adopted from the shelter, while others pay homage to those no longer with us.

'Tis the season for joy and merriment - and adding a new furry friend to your family for only $20.

In an effort to find every animal a great home, the Mission Viejo Animal Services Center and Dedicated Animal Welfare Group are sponsoring a special "Home for the Holidays" event.   From now through December 19, you can adopt any dog, cat, kitten or rabbit for only $20. To boot, these animals will go home with approved adopters spayed or neutered, vaccinated and microchipped.

If you're seeking a unique and memorable holiday gift for that special someone, consider purchasing a $100 paver for the "Canine Walk of Fame" at La Paws Park.

The pavers will be installed mid-March at the popular 6-acre dog park located at the eastern edge of the City along Felipe Road just south of Gilleran Park.

Paver donations help pay for added dog park amenities like benches, chairs, tables, drinking fountains and shade structures.

The Mission Viejo Animal Services Center is asking residents to remember the impact of cold weather on their pets, too.

When temperatures begin to drop below 45 degrees, your pet can become at risk for hypothermia. That’s why it’s essential to keep cats and dogs inside during the evening and early morning hours when temperatures are 45 degrees and below.

Castiel, is a 1 ½-year-old short-haired cat with the most unique markings.  He is white with attractive orange tabby spots that give him a striking appearance.  His personality is very typical of orange tabby cats – calm, mellow and extremely loving.  He may go unnoticed while in his cage because he is such a relaxed cat that he is often overlooked.  However, if you ask to visit him outside of his kennel, you will be pleasantly surprised by his loving personality.

Santa Paws is in town for a good cause. On Saturday, December 10, you and your pet can have your picture taken with Santa and help support the Mission Viejo Animal Services Center.

The holiday event is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Winter Wonderland Village nestled in the Kershaw Garden at the City’s Civic Center, 200 Civic Center.

Meet Atticus, a young happy, interactive and lovable dog.  This white and black terrier is about a year and half old and enjoys walks, playing in the yard and cuddling on your lap. Although Atticus loves all people, he can be selective with dogs and would likely do best in a home without other dogs or one with a submissive female dog. Â
