Animal Services

If your pet was suddenly missing, what would you do? After searching your neighborhood to no avail, would you call your local animal shelter?  That is the best thing to do.

The Mission Viejo Animal Services Center is praising the efforts of two local Girl Scouts who donated more than $700 worth of food and items for the animals this week.

Patricia is a beautiful 2-year-old long-haired diluted calico kitty with a calm demeanor.  She was relinquished to the shelter by her former owner who was relocating and could not bring her along.

She is now our longest resident and is eagerly awaiting a new home.  Despite her long fur, Patricia is extremely low maintenance.  She enjoys her daily brushes and lounging around on the cat tree or her bed.  She has no problem being held and even sits still for nail trims.  She has a healthy appetite for life and cat food alike and loves to chit chat with visitors.

Abbie is a 6-year-old German shepherd with a story to tell.  Last September, she was found emaciated and close to death on a country road in California Hot Springs about 40 miles from Bakersfield.  A Good Samaritan nursed her back to health and patiently searched for Abbie’s owner but to no avail.

Sterling is a 1-year-old kitty with an interesting history.  Her left ear was partially removed, which serves as an indicator that she was spayed.  Someone along the way must have thought she was a wild kitty and took her to be spayed, ear notched and released back into the world on her own.

Gingham is an adorable 2-year-old short-haired rabbit with a crisp white coat and chubby cheeks.  During her stay at the Mission Viejo Animal Services Center, Gingham has proved she'll make an amazing pet.

She is large but docile in her mannerisms and curious of new surroundings.  She is house broken, has a healthy appetite and loves daily salad treats.  She enjoys being pet and sitting in laps but also displays an independent, free-spirited side when she's looking for space to stretch her legs and explore.

Panda landed at the Mission Viejo Animal Services Center after the shelter received a call about a family of cats living in unsafe conditions. She and her three sisters were rescued and nursed back to health with the help of a local veterinary team. Shortly after, Panda gave birth to four kittens and was placed with a loving foster family while she nursed her babies.

Joe is a 4-year-old American Bully, a relatively new breed of dog most people are unfamiliar with.

The breed was produced in the 1980s by mixing the pit bull terrier, Staffordshire terrier and "Olde English Bulldogge."  The resulting dog is a calmer, more adaptable breed, often acting as a laid-back companion dog in the home while showing a zest for life and energy while outside.

Noel is a sweet young kitty just under 2 years old with unique markings - a speckled nose and chin and encircled wrist - that make her one of a kind. She loves playing with toys, especially feathered ones"” and has been at the Mission Viejo Animal Services Center since before the holidays.

Noel is ready for her forever home, which should be one with no other cats, since she loves people but doesn't particularly care for fellow felines.  She will go home vaccinated, spayed and microchipped for only $20.

Sweet Bay was given up when one of her owners developed allergies to her and her sister Breeze.

Though Breeze has been adopted, Bay continues to wait for a new family to take her home. She is extremely playful and social with people as well as other cats, and at only a year old, this beautiful kitty has a lot of life and love to give to a family of any size.
