Meet Keegan, the lovable, happy and energetic American Pitbull Terrier. Keegan is an active dog who loves playing soccer with his big blue ball, enjoys long walks and giving kisses to everyone he meets. Keegan is eager to please, responds well to corrections and is going home with a training package to ensure he continues to be a great dog. Ideally, Keegan would prefer a home with an experienced owner and no other pets.

Kitten season is in full swing at the Mission Viejo Animal Services Center, 28095 Hillcrest.

Five adorable, fun-loving kittens - two males and three females - all with short hair and personalities galore are available for adoption.

The kittens have been raised in foster care, so they are extremely friendly and playful.  As a bonus, Dedicated Animal Welfare Group will pay for each kitten's adoption fees so the cost per kitty is $60 for approved applicants.

Make plans to attend the Annual DAWG Walk & Pet Faire on Saturday, June 17 along the Village Green at Oso Viejo Community Park.

The City of Mission Viejo Animal Services Center and Dedicated Animal Welfare Group (DAWG) team up to host this fun event that features an impressive display of K9 Athletes in Action, pet contests and pet and wildlife exhibits.

If you have ever wanted a German Shepherd, Sarah is the dog for you! This 3-year-old sweetheart is the perfect example of a Shepherd - self-assured, confident and fiercely loyal.  German Shepherds are moderately active dogs with a willingness to learn and eagerness to please.  German Shepherds are also extremely intelligent and obedient and tend to be protective of their family.   Sarah mirrors these traits.

Rustic is an active, playful and independent 2-year-old cat.  This rough-and-tumble boy is curious and adventurous.  He loves playing and running around and will entertain himself for hours.

Rustic enjoys the company of people, especially if they have a feather toy in hand.  He can get overexcited when he receives too much attention, so he would be happiest in a home without young kids.

Rustic will go home to an approved applicant for only $20, so stop by the Mission Viejo Animal Services Center and meet Rustic today!

In honor of spring, the Mission Viejo Animal Services Center is hosting a special rabbit promotion where you can adopt a furry new friend for only $20.

That's right: If you've ever considered a rabbit, there's no better place to find one than here. Before you do consider adopting Peter Rabbit, make sure you know a rabbit is the right pet for you.  They are NOT great for small kids because they can get hurt if stepped on or dropped, but for older children and adults, rabbits can be tons of fun.

Meet Snorkel.  He has a funny name because he's a funny dog.  Still a pup, this big, goofy 1-year-old shepherd mix will steal your heart with his playful antics and loving demeanor.  Snorkel loves toys and will grab one in his mouth, roll over and beg for you to play with him.  Weighing 72 pounds, he's a big pup who runs like a pony, so his new family will need ample room and be able to exercise him at least once a day.  Snorkel needs to learn some manners, so his new family will receive a free training package to start him out on the right paw.

If you have a passion for pets and a penchant for giving back, consider volunteering at the Mission Viejo Animal Services Center. That's right, our shelter is seeking compassionate volunteers to help walk dogs and care for the cats and rabbits.

While volunteering at the center can be extremely rewarding, the job can also be physically demanding. The following is a brief description of what's required:

Volunteers must be at least 18 or older.

Submit an application and attend orientation and training sessions before volunteering.

Meet Ruby – the fun, energetic and loving dog you’ve been looking for!

Ruby is a 2-year-old brindle boxer mix who loves walks, chasing toys and lying down with people. She is perfect for an active family who will commit to helping her release her energy every day. She does well with other large dogs but would thrive in a home without small animals.  She could still use some leash training and will go home with a special training package.

Looking for a lap dog who will give you his undivided attention?  If so, Nigel is the pup for you.

This affectionate 5-year-old Chihuahua/whippet mix loves to cuddle and wants nothing more than to spend the entire day by your side.  He has just the right amount of energy to enjoy a daily walk or hike, but he also enjoys spending time with his family on the couch.
