City Council members on Tuesday began pre-budget discussions; recognized an outstanding Mission Viejo Nadadores diver; and received information about plans for the Oso Creek Water Treatment Plant and Mission Hospital.  

The City Council on Tuesday, January 24 will begin pre-budget discussions; recognize an outstanding Mission Viejo Nadadores diver; and receive information about Mission Hospital’s planned expansion, among other business.  

The business portion of the meeting starts at 6 pm in the Council Chamber at 200 Civic Center.  

In an effort to assist low-income residents, the City is teaming up with the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program to provide free tax preparation for Mission Viejo residents.

Mission Viejo residents can begin making appointments January 17, and non-residents can make an appointment beginning February 13.

Appointments are available for residents with an annual household income less than $60,000. Appointments take place between 9:30 am and 4 pm on Thursdays February 2 through April 13 at the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center.

San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) will make $1 million in customer assistance available via Neighbor-to-Neighbor (N2N), a program that provides up to $300 in one-time grants to help offset past due bills for SDG&E customers experiencing financial hardship who aren’t eligible for the federally funded Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP).

In the first City Council meeting of 2023, Mayor Brian Goodell spoke about his goals for this year and notable City accomplishments, and the Council passed a new ordinance and recognized an outstanding team.  

Due to impending rain, the Glow Golf Tournament has been rescheduled to Saturday, March 4.

Join us for a fun night of golf when we light up the course during the Glow Golf Tournament.

The tournament will be a shotgun scramble with a barbecue dinner and prizes for the top three teams.

Bring your friends, family or play as an individual. The entry fee is $100 per person and includes a cart, two glow golf balls, a glow stick for your golf bag, glow necklaces and bracelets, and a barbecue dinner.
