Bring your family and friends to Terrace on the Green at 5:30 pm on Friday, January 20 for a rockin’ country and soul happy hour featuring the Chris Daniels Project - a country rock & blues and classic rock band with a sound all its own and a great following.

Seating is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Tasty fare from a limited happy hour menu will be available for purchase.

Terrace on the Green is open daily for breakfast (8-11 am); lunch (11 am-3 pm); and happy hour (3-8 pm).

Enjoy several fun family-friendly events this month at 25282 Marguerite Parkway.

Upcoming events at the North Paseo include the Farmers Market and Crafts every Saturday from 9 am to 1 pm; Mission Viejo Station 24 firefighters return for a meet-and-greet on January 19 at 3:30 pm; and popular monthly Night Market on January 21 from 5 to 9 pm.

The Mission Viejo Activities Committee is accepting applications from high school seniors for its annual Volunteerism Scholarship Program.  

Up to five $1,000 scholarships may be awarded awarded to high school seniors who demonstrate exceptional character and dedication to volunteerism.   

As the City prepares for the upcoming holidays, the public should be aware of facility operating hours.

Mission Viejo City Hall will be closed Monday, December 26 through Monday, January 2. City Hall at 200 Civic Center reopens at 8 am on Tuesday, January 3. 

Trash and recycling will be delayed by one day for the weeks of Christmas and New Year’s Day, but police, fire and other essential emergency City services will not be impacted by the closure. 

Hunt for gnomes in your own golf cart on Saturday, January 28 from 6-9 pm at Oso Creek Golf Course.

This year the hunt has doubled in size to include all 18 holes of the golf course.

The Chabad of Mission Viejo will celebrate the Jewish Festival of Lights from 3-5 pm this Sunday on the Village Green at 24932 Veterans Way.

The community event will feature Chanukah music and entertainment, games, activities, a bounce house, creative crafts, face painting, cookie decorating and much more.

Folks of all ages are invited and will embrace the wonderment of Chanukah with the lighting of the menorah; singing traditional holiday songs; and eating latkes (potato pancakes) and sufganiot (jelly donuts). 

Enjoy a special holiday-themed Night Market on Saturday, December 17 from 5 to 9 pm at the North Paseo, 25282 Marguerite Parkway.

Take City sidewalks between Santa’s Workshop and the North Paseo while enjoying carolers, the Grinch and other characters like Jack Skellington and Sally, crafts, glitter face painting and live entertainment along the way. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be in their workshop, and the Night Market -- transformed into “Whoville” -- will celebrate the holidays with games, food, s’mores, a beer garden and live entertainment.

When the City Council reconvenes after the holidays, Brian Goodell will serve as Mayor and Trish Kelley as Mayor Pro Tem for 2023. The Council Members were selected for the one-year posts during the City Council’s annual reorganization on Tuesday.  

During the meeting, the November election results were certified, and Council Members Bob Ruesch (District 1); Brian Goodell (District 2); Cynthia Vasquez (District 3); Trish Kelley (District 4); and Wendy Bucknum (District 5) began serving their four-year terms.  

The City Council will host a special meeting at 4:30 pm on December 13 to certify the results of the November General Municipal Election.   

According to the Orange County Registrar of Voters, Mission Viejo voters elected Bob Ruesch for District 1, Brian Goodell for District 2, Cynthia Vasquez for District 3, Trish Kelley for District 4 and Wendy Bucknum for District 5.
