Thomas Ramirez, an award-winning chef who has been creating delectable farm-to-table fare at the City National Grove of Anaheim, has been named the new executive chef of the Oso Creek Golf Course.

Chef Ramirez begins his Mission Viejo culinary adventure on November 17 where he will reinvent the "grab and go" food at the Birdie Bar and create new breakfast, lunch and evening appetizer menus with delectable tastes that will be served at the Terrace at the Green.

The City Council's next meeting is scheduled for December 8 due to the Thanksgiving holiday.

During the December meeting, residents can look forward to the annual State of the City video.

The Mission Viejo City Council typically meets at 6 pm on the second and fourth Tuesday of month in the Council Chamber at City Hall, 200 Civic Center.

With 2020 bringing much darkness, now's the time to shed some holiday light on the year through the Annual Holiday Home Lighting Contest. 

Mission Viejo residents are encouraged to brighten their neighborhoods and share the holiday spirit by competing in the annual lighting contest. Homes must be decorated and submitted to the Mission Viejo Activities Committee by 5 pm on December 4.  

With the coronavirus running rampant throughout the world, crooks are using the pandemic to scam innocent people. Be sure you take the proper precautions to avoid being scammed. Here are some tips that can help.  

With the pandemic, Santa has shifted his plans a bit this year to keep everyone safe by hosting a "Stop, Wave and Go" program at Santa's Village every Saturday and Sunday from November 29 through December 20 in the Civic Center Plaza at 200 Civic Center.

The City has rolled out a new website for its Oso Creek Golf Course, offering the community detailed news and updates, online options, upgraded amenities and planned improvements for the course designed in 1970.

Through the colorful website at osocreekgolf.com, golfers can book a tee time; meet the staff; see the course guide; and learn about exciting planned improvements.

Calling parents of elementary school kids in Capistrano Unified School and Saddleback Valley Unified School Districts: Do you need a break? Drop off your kids at Kids Factory to let them get the wiggles out while you enjoy some time for yourself! 

The evacuation warning for the Silverado Fire for Mission Viejo Zone 1 has been lifted. This includes the communities of Painted Trails and Sky Ridge.  Firefighters made good progress overnight bringing the fire's containment to 25 percent. No other evacuation warnings are issued in Mission Viejo.

While 554 homes in Mission Viejo's Zone 1 are under an evacuation "warning," the City's Temporary Evacuation Point (TEP) - the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center - is open from 8 am until 9 pm to assist residents in finding alternate lodging needs. If you need to find shelter after hours, please contact 949-470-3062 for assistance or go to the 24-hour TEP at El Toro High School.
