If you know an extraordinary businesswoman, nominate her for the Mission Viejo Chamber of Commerce’s 2023 Outstanding Women in Business Awards.   

The chamber is accepting nominations through August 30 for businesswomen who elevate their profession through innovation, dedication and support.   

The popular Surf City Allstars will delight people of all ages during this year’s Symphony in the Cities and Prelude in the Park on Saturday, August 5 at Oso Viejo Community Park. 

Enjoy live music by Chris James in the Garden + Grille from 5:30 to 7:30 pm on Friday, July 21. James plays high-energy hits from classic rock to dance tunes.

Cocktails and a music night food menu will be available for purchase in this outdoor garden-vibe setting.  Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.

At this year’s Symphony in the Cities and Prelude in the Park, you can enjoy several fun, sea-themed activities for all ages.

The fun takes place on Saturday, August 5 on the Village Green at Oso Viejo Community Park, 24932 Veterans Way. The Children’s Musical Playground and Prelude in the Park is from 4 to 7 pm followed by the concert with Pacific Symphony led by Maestro Carl St.Clair at 7 pm. 

The monthly Night Market returns this Saturday, July 15 from 5-9 pm at the North Paseo, 25282 Marguerite Parkway.

This Night Market has a patriotic “Stars and Stripes” theme and will feature two special performances by The Swing Dolls â€“ a 1940s style vocal trio who performs around the country at patriotic-themed shows for towns and military bases. The dynamic all-girls group will perform two 15-minute shows between 7:30 and 8:30 pm.

The City Council on Tuesday recognized resident Michael Block with the City’s Hometown Hero Award and passed items designed to benefit this community.

This year's theme "Under the Sea" was inspired by the City's 35th anniversary with the traditional color being coral and Mission Viejo's rich history of being under the sea.

The City Council on Tuesday, July 11 will recognize Mission Viejo's newest Hometown Hero and consider an ordinance related to the design of future multi-family and mixed-use projects, among other business. 

The business portion of the meeting starts at 6 pm in the City Council Chamber, 200 Civic Center.   

Community members will have another chance to provide input on the LOS OSOS Core Area concepts during the Planning and Transportation Commission’s July 10 meeting.  

In a first since 2007, the iconic USA Diving Junior National Championships returns to Mission Viejo July 23 through August 1 at the City’s Marguerite Aquatics Complex, 27474 Casta Del Sol.  

The event features 600 of the top junior divers from across the country competing in four events and three age groups. The competition is the most prestigious junior event that USA Diving hosts and determines the divers who will represent the United States at junior international meets.
