The City of Mission Viejo maintains a listing of all stale-dated accounts payable check that are at least six months old and have not been cashed. After three years, unclaimed items in excess of $15 must be published once a week, for two consecutive weeks, in a general circulation newspaper. The Finance Division is a division within the Administrative Services Department. The Finance Division is responsible for promoting and preserving the long range fiscal health of the City. The Division performs all accounting functions and payroll processing, oversees the purchasing function and the risk management function, coordinates the budget process and manages all investment and debt transactions.

Requirements:
Operators and facilitators of hotels, motels or other short term rentals located in the City of Mission Viejo are required to collect a Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT). Each guest (transient) shall pay a tax in the amount of eight percent (8%) of the rent charged by the operator or facilitator for occupancy during any 30 consecutive calendar days or less.
