In celebration of September’s designation as National Library Card Signup Month, the Mission Viejo Library is partnering with local businesses to benefit the community.  

Introduce your children to the joys of Jane Austen in this fun and interactive special storytime. This free event is part of the Jane Austen series of programs and is for age 3 and older.

Join us in The Kershaw Garden to safely view the partial solar eclipse. Learn fun facts, do eclipse-related activities, and share the experience with the community!

The maximum eclipse will occur around 9:25 am in Mission Viejo with about 70 percent coverage of the sun.

Safe solar viewing glasses will be provided. NOTE: Two per family while supplies last.

Solar viewing glasses made available through the Space Science Institute's STAR Net team as part of a grant from the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation and a supplement to the NASA @ My Library Project.

Award-winning novelist and New York Times bestselling author Melanie Benjamin, who penned â€œThe Children’s Blizzard,” “Mistress of the Ritz,” “The Girls in the Picture,” “The Swans of Fifth Avenue,” “The Aviator's Wife” and other popular books, will discuss her latest novel “California Golden” at 6 pm on Thursday, September 14 in the City Hall Council Chamber.

Team up with (or pit yourself against!) friends and family in the ultimate test of current events and pop culture trivia. Light refreshments will be provided.

This free program for all ages and will be held on Thursday, September 21 at 6:30 pm in the Friends Storytime Room.

Learn how to put life back into your well-loved clothes at the Visible Mending Workshop! This free program will feature a demonstration of two basic methods for patching up and decorating your favorite garments. Practice materials will be provided.
