Join film director Antonia Glenn and Professor Evelyn Nakano Glenn for a film screening and discussion of "The Ito Sisters: An American Story." The film captures the stories of three Japanese-American sisters interviewed in their 80s and 90s recounting how their immigrant family struggled to make a life in America at the beginning of the century. Writer and director Antonia Glenn will share the experience of making this award-winning documentary. Professor Glenn will share her perspectives as a leading sociologist and camp survivor.

Join Dr. Emily Anderson, curator for the Japanese American National Museum in Los Angeles, for a presentation on Japanese-American internment during World War II. Dr. Anderson will discuss the historical context that led to the incarceration of more than 120,000 Japanese Americans from 1942-1945. She will also share stories of how the removal directly affected the residents and cultural landscape of Orange County. 

This activity is funded by the California Civil Liberties Public Education Program.

Starting in September, the Friends of the Library Bookstore will host weekly book sales with all books reduced in price by 50 percent or more. Specific book topics will be on sale in the lobby every Wednesday from 10 am to 4:30 pm.

Books on sale in September include history books (September 1), art books (September 8), coffee table books (September 15), business books (September 22), and collectible books (September 29).

A calmer opportunity to meet Santa and Mrs. Claus for children with special needs. 

Children age 3 and older (with parent or guardian).
