Police Services

A new year begins with new opportunities to advance drug awareness and prevention in Mission Viejo, as the City is seeking caring and concerned residents to join the Drug Prevention Coalition.

One way to prevent a residential burglary in your neighborhood is to secure your home and make it less of a target for crime. Did you know Mission Viejo Police Services provides free crime prevention home security inspections for residents? Our Crime Prevention team is available to work with homeowners to identify potential risks and provide suggestions to improve home security.

The best things are often free.  Neighborhood Watch is a free program that connects neighbors to support a safer community.  Knowing your neighbors is the key.  Starting a Watch group provides an opportunity for you to meet new neighbors and reconnect with others.

Residential crime often occurs when people from outside a community target the quiet, well-kept streets of another.  A proactive group of residents who know their neighbors will be quicker to notice when something is unusual or out of place and make a call for service.

Deputy Dana Chaney, an 11-year Sheriff’s Department veteran, has been named 2018 Mission Viejo Deputy of the Year.

Dana has earned the respect of her peers, supervisors, City staff and community members alike.  She was assigned to Mission Viejo as a patrol deputy, but quickly excelled in the department thanks to her professionalism, leadership, expertise, patience and compassion.

As part of an ongoing effort to inform and engage the community, Mission Viejo Police Services will host a Public Safety Town Hall meeting on Thursday, December 13.

The meeting will cover current crime trends in Mission Viejo, which is continually ranked one of the safest cities in the nation, statistics and comparisons to other cities; and legal updates along with essential information about Neighborhood Watch, crime prevention and more.
