Orange County Sheriff’s deputies at 4:44 pm on March 21 were dispatched to the 27000 block of Ruisenor in the City of Mission Viejo due to a shooting. Upon arrival, deputies detained a suspect, evacuated the house, and discovered a 22-year-old man who sustained a gunshot wound. The victim was identified as Noah Christian Aguilar from Mission Viejo. Aguilar was pronounced deceased by the Orange County Fire Authority at the scene. The suspect and victim were roommates.

Deputy Michael Murphy was recently honored as the Saddleback Valley Elks Lodge Deputy of the Year.

Selected for the honor by Mission Viejo Police Services, Deputy Murphy began his career with the Orange County Sheriff’s Department in 2017.

After graduating from the Sheriff’s Academy, Deputy Murphy was assigned to the Intake and Release Center. His exceptional work ethic, maturity, and optimistic attitude became contagious, and his supervisors quickly recognized his lead-by-example approach and how he improved the moral of peers.
