As part of an ongoing effort to help people in our community, the City of Mission Viejo is continuing to host drive-through food drives benefiting different nonprofits on the third Saturday of the month at the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center.

Most-needed food items include oatmeal, pasta, hearty soups, cereal, dried beans, canned chicken, macaroni & cheese, canned fruit, canned pasta, canned chili, canned mixed vegetables (no green beans or corn), canned beef stew, peanut butter and jelly, cereal, protein bars and dinner helpers.

The Recreation and Fitness Centers are rolling out the reopening red carpet on July 1. That is the date you can enjoy the many amenities the Montanoso and Sierra Recreation and Fitness Centers offer. Memberships start at $30 per month with access to three activity-filled facilities providing something for everyone.

The Spirit League, which provides sports programming for special needs adults and children, is gearing up for summer and fall with fun volleyball and soccer seasons.

Mission Viejo residents are encouraged to brighten their neighborhoods and share the Independence Day spirit by competing in the inaugural 4th of July Patriotic Home Decorating Contest.

Homes must be decorated and entries received by 2 pm Friday, June 25. Judging will take place between June 27-28. Winners will be awarded July 1 and will receive prizes along with a "Winner Sign" for their front yard, photo and forever bragging rights. The fillable entry form is now online.  

The Montanoso Splash Pad will start making a splash on Friday, May 28.

Recreation center members can make a reservation to enjoy the aquatic play area beginning at 1 pm on Monday, May 24 by calling 949-859-4348, option 2.  Non-members can call for availability during operating hours.

The 1-hour splash pad reservations will allow the City to provide a fun family activity for one family (up to eight people) per hour.

The splash pad will operate from 1-2 pm; 2:30-3:30 pm; and from 4-5 pm every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

In Mission Viejo, the free drive-through event is from 9-11 am at the Marguerite Aquatics Center, 27474 Casta Del Sol. 

Part of an ongoing effort to help people in our community, the City of Mission Viejo is hosting its next drive-through food drive from 9 to 11 am on Saturday, May 15 at the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center, 24932 Veterans Way.

The food drive will benefit the nonprofit South County Outreach, which helps those in need with resources for food, shelter and other support services in Orange County.

The summer edition of Mission Viejo Life is now online - offering information about community resources, special events, virtual and in-person classes, fitness and camps spanning the next few months.

Inside the pages is details about summer camps and classes for children like Anime, Cartooning, and Comic Creation; Jedi Training Workshop; Mining and Crafting w/ LEGO Summer Camp!; Robot Building Workshop; and American Doll Fashion's Camp.
