The City of Mission Viejo and Orange County Sheriff's Department are gearing up for the 30th annual Walk Against Drugs on Saturday, October 20.

In honor of Red Ribbon Week, this year's event kicks off at 8 a.m. with a rally at Mission Viejo High School featuring keynote speakers Carson Kropfl, a 13-year-old inventor, and Undersheriff Don Barnes. The winner of the Safe Schools Challenge will be announced at the end of the rally.

The crowd will then walk down Chrisanta Drive, La Paz Road and Oso Creek Trail to the Village Green where the Community Fair and 11th annual South County Disaster Preparedness Expo take place until noon.

To ensure the safety of participants, all private driveways and side streets on the north side of La Paz Road between Veterans Way and Chrisanta Drive will be closed from 6:30 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. (See traffic and shuttle details.)
