Jr. Youth Pickleball Programs start in April at the Felipe Tennis and Recreation Center

Are you ready to be part of the next generation of pickleball players? The Felipe Tennis and Recreation Center is rolling out new spring youth pickleball clinics and programs designed for kids aged 7 and older.
Starting next month, Coach Senem Aktuccar will lead the Pickleball Stars program from 3:30-5 pm Mondays and Wednesdays at the center. In this group clinic, players will focus on developing hand-eye coordination, paddle skills, stroke development, footwork, rules, and scoring. Games are designed to improve a player’s fundamentals in a fun setting designed with youth players in mind. Coach Senem focuses on a rally-based strategy to learning the sport and provides an environment for all levels. Players will be grouped based on age and skill level.
More clinic offerings take place in May.
Players can then apply what they learned on the court in the first Junior Pickleball Round-Robin Tournament on Sunday, May 7 from 2:30 – 4:30 pm. This introductory tournament will feature up to 24 players and is designed to introduce players to match play while having fun. The competition features a round-robin format to maximize the amount of play. Each match will be first to 11, win by 1. Players will receive instruction and feedback by professionals to improve their pickleball and match play skills in a friendly setting while they also learn and practice match scoring. An awards ceremony will follow tournament including recognition for players with the best dink and return.
