The Sierra Recreation Center has four lighted Pickleball courts, available during drop-in play hours or by reservation during normal operating hours.

Both facilities have high quality paddles and balls available at the front desk for FREE check-out.

Double-Elimination Charity Pickleball Tournament

Registration is now open for our inaugural Paddle for the Battle double-elimination charity pickleball tournament, which will take place on Sunday, May 5 at the Felipe Tennis and Recreation Center, 27161 Nogal. 100% of ALL event registration fees will go directly to the American Cancer Society to help find a cure for cancer and support patient services. Participants will receive a tax-deductible receipt on the day of the event for their tournament entry fees. 

Paddle for the Battle will feature 144 players (72 teams) over 6 divisions for set-partner play in a double-elimination format. Registration fee is $80 per team and includes player goodie bag and prizes for 1st and 2nd place in each division. In honor of Cinco de Mayo, festive mexican food will be available onsite for purchase. 

Don’t have a partner? Well try to find you one. Single participants interested in playing should call 949-859-4348 x 5722 to speak with the tournament before registering for the event.

Public silent auction will conclude at 4:30 pm. Winners do not need to be present, but any items won must be picked up and paid for by May 13. Round Robin Socials

The City of Mission Viejo hosts regular round-robin social tournaments every month featuring men's and women's beginner and intermediate socials at the Sierra Recreation Center (4 game round-robin) and open level events (7 game round-robin) at the Felipe Recreation & Tennis Center.  

Men's and Women's - 2.0, 2.5, 3.0 & 3.5

Join our eighth Round-Robin Doubles Pickleball Social from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. February 16 at the Sierra Recreation Center!  All players are guaranteed four 30-minute matches against different players in a true round-robin format.  No partner is needed. Medals in each division are awarded for first and second place, and the event includes lunch. Cost is $15 per player. This popular event is expected to sell out early, so register online today by clicking the corresponding division link below or call 949-859-4348, option 3. If your division fills up, join the waitlist. Divisions may be combined for mixed-doubles play based on the number of registrations.

Join our third Open Level Round-Robin Social at the Felipe Tennis and Recreation Center, 27161 Nogal, for our new 7-game format. In true round-robin fashion, players will play with and against all division participants, changing partners after each game. Whoever scores the most points over seven games, wins the division title. Divisions are open to both men and women, so players can play with and against members of the opposite sex. Medals are awarded for first, second and third place. Entry includes a deli lunch. Leagues

The City of Mission Viejo offers 10-week Pickleball leagues throughout the year. Each league features up to 16 players for round-robin play. Over the course of the 10-week league, players will play with and against each league member, tracking points throughout the season to declare an ultimate champion. Leagues are open to both men and women players. Players will be assigned to a court each week and will play 3 round-robin matches, first to 11 points, win by 2, changing partners after each game. Every point counts as cumulative scores will determine the winner at the end of league celebration banquet. League fees include balls, prizes for winners, and end of season lunch or dinner. Non-member fees also include all applicable guest fees.

Beginner Leagues for 2.0-2.5 players

Registration for our winter pickleball leagues (January - March) is currently closed, however, subs are needed when regular members cannot play.

Registration for Spring leagues will begin on Monday April 1 at 8 a.m for all leagues starting the week of April 14. Price is $30 for members, $80 for members.

Brand new for Spring session! Come play in our evening advanced pickleball league! 

Registration will open a month early on Friday, March 1 at 8 a.m. since this will be the first time we are offering the 4.0+ league. League will start the week of April 14. Price is $30 for members, $80 for members.

Demos, Clinics, and Lessons

Join us on the first Saturday of the month at the Sierra Recreation Center for a FREE Pickleball demo day with Lonnie Kojima. This 2-hour FREE program runs from 4-6 p.m. and features an hour of instruction followed by an hour of open match play.  Equipment is provided at no cost. It's a great way to meet new players.

Looking to up your game? Check out our Pickleball Clinics with Lonnie Kojima. Clinics are offered on Tuesday and Friday mornings from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. for a 5-week session. Only $76 for recreation members; $80 for non-members. Beginner clinics are suitable for players 2.0-2.5; intermediate clinics are for 3.0-3.5 players. Click on the links below to register online. Members may make reservations for up to 90 minutes during normal operating hours for set foursomes or groups outside of dedicated Pickleball times.

Felipe Tennis & Recreation Center*

8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.           Monday - Sunday
5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.             Monday - Thursday
5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.             Friday
12:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.           Saturday

*Courts schedules are subject to change. Courts may be closed for tennis league home matches after 10 a.m., or for Pickleball leagues depending on registration. Signs will be posted at the facility to notify players when alternative hours will be offered.  

Pickleball is an included amenity for Recreation Center members. The City of Mission Viejo accepts Silver Sneakers, Prime, Renew Active, AARP Supplemental (UnitedHealthCare), and Silver and Fit for pickleball at both the Felipe Tennis and Recreation Center and the Sierra Recreation Center.

Court Etiquette:
If you are playing on courts 1, 2, or 4 at Felipe, it is expected that you allow other players to rotate in when you are not participating in a lesson, clinic, or league. Thank you for continuing to support our growing programs and for making our club a welcoming place for all players. Groups wishing to play with a set foursome may reserve court 3, or book a private court at the Sierra Recreation Center during normal operating hours. Please see reservations below.  

Reservations:
Members can make a Pickleball reservation 24 hours in advance for up to 90 minutes with a set foursome on court 3 at Felipe during normal operating hours, or at Sierra outside of drop-in play times. Extended play is permitted if space is available.

Pickleball Tutor Ball Machine Rental:

The Felipe Tennis and Recreation Center is excited to announce the arrival of our new pickleball Tutor Machine. This remote-controlled pickleball machine will support oscillation, 2-line play, elevation adjustments, and offers randomized settings to help you enjoy your time on the court. Additionally, the facility has purchased a “ball pic” to help you refill the machine without bending and scooping.

Reservations for the machine are available on Court 1 after 10 a.m. during normal business hours for $10 an hour, or if you’re a member, you can get an annual unlimited use pass for only $150. You can use the pickleball machine before 10 a.m. when courts are not being used for recreation play.  

Pickleball Court Rental Fees:

Pickleball courts can be rented for matches, socials, group meet ups, special events and other programs. Rentals require two-weeks advanced notice.  All guest fees are included in hourly rental charge.

$15 per hour light fee (for evening reservations)

General Guidelines:

Players must clean up the court after use, including removing water bottles, personal belongings, and trash from the courts.

Disruptive behavior is not allowed in the facility, including inappropriate language.

Court reservations are made for 90 minutes.  Be respectful of the players who will follow you.

Players must check-in at the front office when they arrive.  A 15-minute grace period is allowed for late check-in before the reservation is forfeited.

When other players are waiting, winners should rotate off the courts after winning 2 games.
