A 6,493-square-foot Spanish restaurant with Flamenco shows would open in the Kaleidoscope, under a proposal the City's Planning and Transportation Commission will consider on Monday, January 9.

Tapas OC plans to leave Newport Beach after 16 years and open in the Mission Viejo entertainment center at 27741 Crown Valley Parkway, Suite 221. The eatery is proposing to serve wine, beer and distilled spirits as well as host live music and dancing.

The City's Planning and Transportation Commission early next year will consider a developer's proposal to revamp the aging Los Alisos Village commercial center on Los Alisos Boulevard at Trabuco Road.

The proposed plan calls for renovating and expanding the existing center by 1,312 square feet. The commercial center, which was built in 1978, currently houses Taco Mesa, Baskin Robbins, All Star Pizza and Auto Zone.

Mission Viejo businesses are invited to a December 15 workshop hosted by Assemblyman Bill Brough on the California Competes Tax Credit.

The Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz) workshop is from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the Council Chambers at 200 Civic Center.

Poke Wave on Marguerite Parkway is the 16th new eatery to open in Mission Viejo so far this year.

The restaurant at 25280 Marguerite Parkway (near Jersey Mike's Subs) joins other 2016 newcomers including The Melt, Island's, Lolli & Pops, Anchor Hitch, Diced Bowl, Oyu Shabu, Hummus Bowl, Milkbox, Dry Society, Portola Coffee Roasters, Tacos Cancun, Tasty Bowl, Burger Boss, Tropical Smoothie Café  and Savour Bakery.

The former Mission Viejo Rentals building and storage yard on Los Alisos Boulevard were demolished this month to make way for a new 2,360-square-foot fast-food eatery.

Popeye’s Louisiana Kitchen, which offers a Cajun menu and is well-known for its Louisiana-style fried chicken, plans to open in March on the half-acre site near Sonic Burgers at 23462 Los Alisos Boulevard.

When completed, this Popeye's drive-through restaurant will be the chain’s first in south Orange County.

Partners Bank of California is slated to host the next Mission Viejo Chamber of Commerce mixer on November 17.  The event begins at 5:30 p.m. at 27201 Puerta Real, Suite 160.
